Quick Update

So, I know I’ve been largely absent (other than reblogging cool things) since my Ready or Not post. But I promise I’m still alive and actually thriving in my student teaching. However it doesn’t do me much good to have this as a record of my student teaching when I don’t post. But right now I’m simply too busy. I’ll come back later and do either a giant post on everything that’s transpired recently or a bunch of shorter ones…I haven’t decided yet.

There is no such thing as a child who hates to read; there are only children who have not found the right book.

Why grading takes me so long:

  1. Read a page.
  2. Shake my damn head.
  3. Sit in disbelief that someone thought this was good.
  4. Check the internet to clear up my head.
  5. Finish reading paper.
  6. Craft a long letter to the student (average of 400 words) where I try to find something to praise and yet ultimately tell them why this is not good.
  7. Shake my head. They won’t even take the time to read my letter.
  8. Start again.

Pinterest inspired do it yourself planner. I love this. It uses sticky notes (I would get the super stickys.)

Use a paper towel holder, page protectors, and binder rings to display student work, prepare a sub, etc.
